What a great site! I was looking for something that would help explain the Armor of God to our Kindergarten and 1st grade choir kids. Thank you again for your latest sermon. Recently, I was
leaving for a trip through the US. I used the sermon #48:
The Way for the children's story...first we were going to
Memphis and I told the children I had several choices of
highway to get there, showing them the maps of the different
routes. But, then I was travelling to North Carolina to
visit friends, and found there was only one way to get there
...hwy. 40 through the mountains, which I don't like.
Then I talked about how God gave us a wonderful map for our
life.....the Bible......using some of your story etc.
I asked the children if when I got to Florida if I should
throw the maps away.......in the same way, should we throw
the bible away when we get to the end of reading it.
Of course they said I needed my maps to get me home and we
need the Bible to help us through our lives. Anyway, I
thought it was a very effective sermon and I received
several comments from parents.
Sometimes, those of us who give children's sermons, just need
an idea to get started. I also find it very effective if
I can relate it somehow to myself.

I used the "super bowl" sermon on 1/28/01. It was a big hit, even with the adults! Before church I placed bowls of various sizes (some were jars) in the pews. At that point in the sermon I sent the children to "borrow" bowls. We then lined them up on the alter rail. They were spellbound by the thought of filling all those from my one very small one. They may not remember the scripture, but they will remember the lesson! God's blessings to you, Linda

My husband is the pastor of a small Southern Baptist Church in Fillmore, Utah. He is also a missionary through the North American Mission Board to Beaver, Utah where he is starting a church. I teach children's Sunday School and lead the Children's activities on Wednesday nights. We started children's church, but it only lasted a little while.
